Each Has Its Own Aesthetic Goal
As we touched on briefly, dermal fillers and injectables like Botox each have individualized cosmetic goals. Dermal fillers are typically meant to fill in space where volume has been lost to achieve a more youthful appearance. This includes areas of sagging skin like underneath the eyes, the neck, and even the hands. Meanwhile, Botox specifically targets deep-set dynamic facial lines and aims to relax the muscles in the face that cause said lines. So it not only attempts to correct facial lines and wrinkles but also keeps the muscles from overworking the area again after it has been corrected.
Adaptability
There is some give and take between these two types of injectables. Dermal fillers tend to win out in the area of coverage where they can be successful. These fillers can be used on many different areas of the body but are only used as a response to negative factors. Whereas Botox targets lines and wrinkles on the face and aims to prevent them after correcting them. But again, simply on or near the face only. So it really will depend on what features you are looking to cosmetically improve before you can decide which injectable is right for you.
Longevity of Results
Dermal fillers last longer. They can last anywhere from six months to a couple of years, depending on various lifestyle choices and types of filler. Whereas Botox typically only has optimal results for around four months. But as we mentioned, it also helps prevent the lines from returning during that time.
